Abstract: Circular Economy of Textiles -project aims for pilot and model the closed circular ecosystem for textiles. This ecosystem lays a foundation for utilization of textiles and especially of the textile waste fraction currently not suitable for recycling in new way. Our aim is to produce business opportunities and shared value for all parties within value chain. Main themes of the project include service, production, design and business. Our consortium includes actors from all stages of the value chain enabling practical implementation of post-consumer textile recycling pilot, first in a world. In addition as a result of the project we will obtain description of actors, processes and material flow within closed textile recycling ecosystem (in Finland and involving global actors) as well as description of division of added value within ecosystem. Furthermore we will review consumer habits and consumer communication as method for committing consumers to circular economy, and technology readiness level and up scalability of processes into industrial level not forgetting product safety and assessment of environmental impact aspects.
